WMRF spreads the word about its work to Western Sydney businesses

More than 120 business partners and guests attended “Business After Five”, a networking event organised by Parramatta Chamber of Commerce and hosted by Westmead Medical Research Foundation (WMRF) at Bertonia Lounge in Parramatta.

Westmead Medical Research Foundation Head of Development Joe Conneely praised the Chamber for the opportunity to host the event on Tuesday and thanked everyone for their attendance.

“Westmead Hospital has more than 330,000 people who are admitted annually and has just under 1.5 million people as outpatients, so it’s easy to say that Westmead has an impact on everybody’s life here in Western Sydney,” Mr Conneely said.

“The kind support of our ongoing corporate donors allows us to assist the amazing staff with their medical research, patient care and the outpatient services for the community since 1990.”

Parramatta Chamber of Commerce President, David Hill and Business Relationship Manager, Romina Bousimon, presented a certificate of appreciation to the Foundation.

Guests included Parramatta MP Geoff Lee, past and present board members of the Chamber and representatives from a diverse range of Western Sydney businesses.

A visit to Westmead before teeing off

March 20th, 2018

Parramatta Chamber of Commerce has selected Westmead Medical Research Foundation (WMRF) as the charity of choice for their upcoming Charity Golf Day.

During a recent visit to Westmead Hospital, the event sponsors got a behind the scenes insight at how funds raised by WMRF are used in different areas of the hospital.

Paul Noppen, Darren Delaney and Mark Davis, from Noppen Group, together with Parramatta Chamber of Commerce Board member Rosa Bellisimo, visited The Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre (CPMCC) and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Westmead.

CPMCC nurse unit manager radiation oncology Noeline Ranzac – who is also a golf fan – thanked the sponsors for their commitment to this year’s event.

“Some of the equipment we use daily at the centre was purchased with funds received from sponsors and supporters of events like golf days,” Noeline said.

“The incredible generosity of donors funding state-of-the-art equipment allows us to improve the therapy of patients through their difficult cancer journey.”

At NICU, the sponsors met nurse unit manager John Whittaker who explained the importance of having equipment with advanced features available at the ward.

“A perfect example is the PANDA Resuscitaire, a machine that keeps a newborn at optimum temperature and has the ability to provide breathing assistance if the baby requires it,” John said.

“Thank you to Parramatta Chamber of Commerce, Noppen Group for visiting, and all the sponsors of this year Charity Golf Day.”

The 2018 Charity Golf Day in support of the Foundation will be held on May 8 at Oatlands Golf Club. Golfers and guests will play a round of golf and then enjoy lunch to raise funds to support medical research and patient care at Westmead.

For the third consecutive year, Arab Bank Australia (ABA) has proudly supported the work of Westmead Medical Research Foundation (WMRF) through their Charity Golf Day.

This year 20 teams registered and played on the day. Nearly 100 players and guests attended the event where over $24,000 was raised towards the support of medical research and patient care projects at Westmead.

A glorious day at the Twin Creeks Country and Golf Club on Thursday 9 November.  It was great to see so many golfers supporting such a great cause.  Another special mention and thanks to our Co-Sponsor Construction Consultants, our shirt sponsor BP Australia and our Event Sponsor Billbergia, to all our hole sponsors and donors and to the players – the day wouldn’t have been such a success without your friendship, support and giving nature.  A great overall result,” said Joe Rizk, Managing Director and CEO of Arab Bank Australia.

WMRF provides support across all aspects of the precinct through its fundraising and awareness initiatives to support the dedicated staff and patients who visit Westmead.

It’s right to say that the Foundation is truly engaged with the community throughout their lifespan, funding state-of the-art medical equipment, life-saving research and enhanced patient services for Westmead Hospital and The Westmead Institute for Medical Research.

All of this would not be possible without the generous contributions we receive from donors like Arab Bank Australia and its corporate partners – a dedicated group who supports this fantastic fundraising event,”said Joe Conneely, Head of Development at WMRF.
