Collection of information
Westmead Medical Research Foundation collects information from staff, patients and donors solely to carry out its marketing and fundraising functions. Westmead Medical Research Foundation will never directly approach a patient and ask for any personal or medical information. Information collected from patients for use in marketing material (such as direct marketing, annual report or this website) is volunteered freely by the patient, and approved by the patient prior to publication.
Ensuring data quality
We aim to ensure our information is accurate and as up-to-date as possible. Information from third parties is checked with each party where possible.
Ensuring data security
Westmead Medical Research Foundation does not hold or have access to patient medical or other personal records at Westmead.
Westmead Medical Research Foundation allows individuals to act anonymously where it is practical and lawful to do so. For example, we will accept anonymous donations, but are unable to issue a tax-deductible receipt to the donor.
Information on race, ethnicity, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, health information or sexual inclination is classed as sensitive information. Westmead Medical Research Foundation does not collect sensitive information except with the client's consent or where required by law.
Maintaining financial records
Westmead Medical Research Foundation maintains a database of suppliers, customers and other contacts with which it engages in financial transactions. The computerised financial system operated by Westmead Medical Research Foundation accesses this database in order to process financial transactions. The information held in the database for each contact consists of the contact's name, address, telephone numbers and one or more identifiers necessary for effective financial processing. The information may be used from time to time for direct marketing purposes to raise funds for Westmead Medical Research Foundation. The information is not made available to any third party except as required by law.
