Clubs of Western Sydney Charity Race Day
On Saturday 31st October 2009 Westmead Medical Research
Foundation hosted the Clubs of Western Sydney Charity Race Day in the Grand
Pavilion at Rosehill Racecourse. The event raised over $35 000 for the
Foundation which is the key fundraiser for excellence in medical research and
clinical care at Westmead.
Over 300 guests enjoyed a three course meal and a wonderful day of racing.
Ron Hilditch won first prize in the raffle, a Captain Cook cruise around the
Islands of Fiji. Thank you to Captain Cook Cruises for donating this fabulous
prize. Guests were invited to participate in the Best Dressed competition with
prizes for both men and women kindly donated by Courtyard Marriott, Face Body
Wellness and Mala Tokyo.
MC Ross ‘Rossco’ Hutchison successfully auctioned off a 2GB advertising
package worth over $5000, Blacktown Workers was the successful bidder. Key
speaker, Professor Tony Cunningham, Director of Westmead Millennium Institute
then spoke about the excellent research being conducted at Westmead Millennium
Institute.
Alan Overton AM, Board Member of Westmead Medical Research Foundation,
said “We sincerely appreciate the support of the Clubs of Western Sydney over
the past 9 years. This has been a great day of camaraderie, racing and
fundraising. All funds will go towards supporting the incredible doctors and
researchers at Westmead”
